Welcome to my Authentic Learning blog targeted at Year 9 Chemistry. For this topic, I am focussing on the knowledge of atoms and radiation whilst encouraging students to reflect their knowledge in an authentic way for creativity and authenticity. It is important teachers implement authentic learning for all subjects as it encourages students to learn in a different way which is beneficial for student's learning and understanding throughout school. This blog shows elements of authentic learning and how I have embodied them to teach about atoms and radiation, including curriculum standards, learning outcomes, lesson plans and advice for other teachers teaching this topic authentically. The basis of this topic is leading up to an online assignment which students must authentically create, below I have a video which addresses the project at hand with instructions and examples for students to complete this assignment.
